Wander Through The Fremantle Markets
The Fremantle Markets is a must-do activity for anyone visiting Perth. Running for over 100 years, Fremantle Markets has a rich and vibrant atmosphere. You’ll find over 150 vendors selling everything from souvenirs, fresh produce, clothing, artisan goods, tasty treats, jewellery, toys and much much more.
Personally, I recommend trying out the empanadas from Kachapas and a waffle from Muffle while you wander through the stalls. Check out my Guide to the Fremantle Markets for everything you need to see, do and eat on your day out at the Fremantle Markets.
Fremantle Markets is open Friday to Sunday 9 am to 6 pm. It’s also open on Monday public holidays.
Road Trip To Margaret River
It may technically be low season, but July is my personal favourite time to take road trips to Margaret River! There’s something special about this tiny town tucked away in the towering Karri trees during the cool winter months. The countryside becomes a vibrant shade of green and the town smells of wood fires burning within people’s homes.
This little tourist town draws visitors from all over Australia (and even the world!), but it’s less crowded in July. I recommend going on a wine tour and finding a cosy fireplace to nestle up to while you enjoy your glass of red. Check out my Guide to the Margaret River Caves if you’re hunting for more things to do in the region.
Catch A Cottesloe Beach Sunset
The earlier sunsets in July make it a great time to catch a stunning sunset over the ocean, and what better spot than Cottesloe Beach!
Head to the grassy foreshore area to pick a supreme spot while you lazily watch the surfers catch waves and kayakers race up the coast before the sun dips below the horizon and puts on a spectacular show.
After sunset, head up to one of the many restaurants for a beaut dinner and a wine. I recommend Il Lido for a decadent pasta with a stunning ocean view.
Check out my Cottesloe Beach Guide for more great things to do in Cottesloe.

- Varnish on King

Go For A Hike at Walyunga National Park
One of my personal favourite hikes in Perth is the Echidna Trail at Walyunga National Park. This 11km Loop takes hikers along the rapids of the Avon River before making a somewhat challenging ascent into the hills of Walyunga National Park.
July is a great time to hike through the park as the river is flowing due to the rains, making it a spectacular view.
Allow half a day to complete this hike and make sure you start early as the carpark is locked at 5 pm.
