Perth’s most spectacular winter tradition is back – and this year, it’s better than ever!
Lightscape 2026 has just opened at Kings Park and Botanic Garden, transforming one of the world’s great urban parks into a breathtaking after-dark experience. Running from 5 June to 26 July, this internationally acclaimed light trail winds 1.8km through the heart of Kings Park, illuminating ancient trees, native landscapes and a brand-new collection of large-scale artworks by artists from around the globe.
Since its debut season in 2023, Lightscape has welcomed over 400,000 visitors through its glowing corridors – and it’s not hard to see why. There’s something genuinely magical about wandering through Kings Park at night, with the city skyline glittering in the distance and extraordinary light installations unfolding around every bend.

What’s New in 2026
This year’s line-up is entirely fresh, with more than 20 spectacular installations designed to surprise even returning visitors.
One of the standout works is Mycelium Network, created by UK-based artist Stevie Thompson. Inspired by the vast underground fungal systems that quietly sustain forests across the planet, the installation brings these hidden networks to glowing life: a stunning reminder of the invisible world beneath our feet and its vital role in regenerating and protecting ecosystems.
Together, the works weave a narrative about the natural world, its resilience, its mystery, and its beauty, set against the backdrop of WA’s own iconic flora.
The Perfect Perth Winter Night Out
Whether you’re after a romantic evening stroll, a family adventure the kids will talk about for weeks, or simply a chance to shake off the winter blues in the most spectacular way possible, Lightscape delivers. The trail is relaxed and self-paced, meaning you can linger at the installations that move you and soak up the atmosphere at your own speed.
There’s food and drinks throughout the installation, including a tasty marshmallow and hot choccie stall.
