Why should you get a facial?

Facials are a total game-changer for your skin. Getting a facial every now and then will improve your complexion, have you looking radiant and glowing, (which can be a huge confidence boost!) and leave you feeling chilled out and de-stressed.

A good facial will give your pores a deep clean, getting rid of all the gunk clogging them up. This can make your skin appear fresh and may even reduce the amount of pimples and blackheads you get.

A facial will give your skin a hydration boost, which is especially important during cold or dry months. Regular facial treatments can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving your skin looking and feeling its absolute best.

Facials are a relaxing experience

A facial can also help improve the overall texture and tone of your skin. This can be achieved through the use of exfoliating products and facial massage techniques, which can help increase blood flow and bring oxygen and nutrients to the skin.

And let’s not forget about the relaxation benefits! A facial is a great way to take some time for yourself and unwind. During the treatment, you’ll be lying down with your eyes closed, and your therapist will be doing all the work. It’s a perfect opportunity to switch off your mind and relax. Plus, the massage techniques that are used during a facial can help to release tension in your face and head, which can help to reduce stress and tension in the rest of your body.

And lastly, having regular facials can also help you maintain a good skincare routine. Your therapist will give you tips on what products to use that suit your skin type and condition.

Bodyscape offers a range of facials, depending on your skin’s needs, which include the iKOU Signature Facial, Wellness Probiotic Facial and Green Superfood Booster Facial.

First, you fill out a survey and discuss your skin concerns with your therapist, think things like acne, dry skin, redness, etc. They’ll help you choose a facial that’s right for your skin and tailor the serums to your needs. In particular, I was concerned about sun damage and the Green Superfood Booster Facial was perfect for this as it revitalises and hydrates the skin.

The Green Superfood Booster Facial was a rejuvenating, multi-sensory experience! The Beautiful, fresh scents of the iKOU products, the soft, tranquil music, the dimly lit room with candles flickering and the shift in temperatures between cooling products and warm cleansing towels all contributed to the ultimate relaxing experience.

My therapist talked me through each step which began with a double cleanse and the Green Superfood mask which contains AHA sugarcane and fruit extracts that work to exfoliate for that stunning glow!

Next up was the Probiotic Booster mask, which was my favourite part of the facial. It was cooling on the skin and instantly made my skin feel hydrated – my skin kept soaking it up! It was then time for the White Flannel Flower arm and shoulder massage which had me feeling like I was floating on a cloud – bliss.

How to prepare your skin for your facial in Perth

Here are some tips for preparing for a facial in Perth:

  1. Cleanse your skin thoroughly: Before your facial, make sure to cleanse your skin to remove any makeup or impurities
  2. Avoid sun exposure: Try to avoid sun exposure for at least 24 hours before your facial. Sunburned skin can be sensitive and may not respond well to the products and treatments used during a facial.
  3. Avoid caffeine and alcohol: Try to avoid consuming caffeine and alcohol before your appointment, as they can dehydrate your skin and make it more sensitive.
  4. Relax: Remember, a facial is an opportunity to relax and take care of yourself. So, try to relax and enjoy the experience!

Facial aftercare

Following your facial in Perth, it’s important to look after your skin following a facial as it may be sensitive. Here are some facial aftercare tips:

  1. Stay away from the sun: A little sun can be good for the soul, but too much can be bad for your skin, so try to avoid it for at least 24 hours after a facial. If you can’t avoid it, make sure to slather on some sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
  2. Keep your hands off your face: Your skin is extra sensitive after a facial, so try not to touch it too much. This can cause irritation and breakouts.
  3. Take it easy on the sweating: Sweating can cause irritation and breakouts, so try to avoid heavy exercise or anything that makes you sweat for at least 24 hours after a facial.
  4. Keep your skin hydrated: Drink plenty of water and keep your skin moisturised to keep it hydrated and healthy after a facial.
  5. Go makeup-free: If you can, try to avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours after a facial. Your skin needs to breathe!
  6. Give your skin time to calm down: After a facial, your skin may be a little red and swollen. This is normal and should go away within a few hours.
